Hi everyone, thanks for your notes to us. We are fine here north of Santiago in La Serena where we live. No damage around here at all but we certainly felt it, our beach house floating around for more than a minute, strange sensation this one. Very wavy, floaty, not jolting like others here. Mike was actually in the shower, just home from watching Canada beat Czechs in hockey, USA had crushed Finland earlier and we watched the games with a Finnish family, they are here doing business selling Finnish Solar panels. So he was in the shower, legs moving around wierd thinking, wow, I didn't think I had had that much to drink...the Finn slipped me a mickey! Well, soon enough he heard all the kids shouts and well, as you know, it was massive. Lots of damage in Santiago, airport and big old museum in the center of town down, lots of roads buckled, bridges down with cars crushed, you might have seen some news images, sadly, they report 128 dead so far. Terrible old construction badly hurt, and a new building just selling their apartments is basically totalled. Our only ties to speak of, Cadi's best friend recently moved to the epicenter area and was trapped in her room from something, we haven't properly talked to her yet as the phone cuts out where she is. She is fine now but said the fires were bad. Oh and a few friends are camping in that area, its summer here, so we will hear their story when they return. Our farm in the south, in Chiloe is fine, the island on the other side of the sea, seemingly untouched by any movement. Here at our farm we had the electricity cut at the time of the quake, and then again this morning, so it is a little concerning for the blowers, air to the abalone. But, not long enough to suffer mortalities. So, here we are, wanted to report direct to you the situation in pobre Chile, not something these people need, such a lack of insurance and money to repair.
One more note, if you like eeery things...Cadi, a few years ago, just before a minor earthquake, woke up with a ghost by her bed looking down at her right before the trembler shook, and... last night, I was in bed and she came running in, a ghost, a ghost, she is in my room!!!! etc, etc..., just then, this quake started up.

So good to hear you are all okay! When we turned on the TV this morning we immediately thought of you and were so happy to hear you were ok from Trish. The TV shows so much destruction and It is so sad to see. That is so wild about Cadi seeing a ghost. Was it in the same house she saw the ghost in?
A series of 8 to 10 inch waves were recorded at the Santa Ana rivermouth in Huntington Beach at 12:10 local time. Not exactly a tsunami, but amazing proof of the energy that was released. Stay safe.
