Fun Time in Chicago
I think it is so much fun to go to a new city and eat your way through it! At least that is what we did in Chicago.
Tom's friend Rocky Yapp is a Doctor in Chicago and has a hotel room in Chicago pretty much next to the Hancock building that we were able to use for 4 days. It was originally a trip for work that I got to go on with Tom and Jamie. It ended up changing and Jamie did not have to work but had to spend the time with us!
The first night we ate at a place called Spiaggia - they have the expensive restaurant and then the cafe side. We went to the cafe side and enjoyed a great dinner. When leaving I tried to go to the restroom on the restaurant side but they were running people through metal detectors! We decided to just go to our room and on the way out we found several secret service men and limos...it is Michelle Obama's favorite restaurant and she had come in to town.
We went to the Art Museum, shopped the Miracle Mile, walked Millennium Park, walked to Navy Pier...walked and walked and walked.
We ate at Fontera, The Purple Pig, The Girl and The Goat! We got cupcakes from Sprinkles and popcorn from Garretts! Thank goodness for all the walking.
If you ever get a chance to get out of the airport in Chicago check out the city.

Wine Pairings Party
This year at the beach instead of the usual wine tasting party where we end up with too much wine (22 bottles alone last year) we decided that everyone would bring a bottle of wine and food that paired with their wine.
It was a great success! The food was spectacular. The wine enhanced the food like it should.
We had our crew of 11 plus Bear and the Davis. We welcomed our newest Wyatt who slept through most of the party. The party started at 6. The champagne toast was held at sunset and the sunset did not disappoint. We had crab cakes, shrimp, brie with apples, cheese torte, mushroom crostini, grilled figs, goat cheese & prosciutto, and minestrone soup. Jenn wowed us with desserts; chocolate torte and a vanilla fruit tart with almonds.
Shawn added to the festivities by bringing a "jockey box" that he had built (a take-a-long kegerator)to share.
At the close of the evening it was mandatory for the beach bonfire with smores. Everyone got 45 minutes of beach and bonfire before the Sheriff thought we should wrap it up. Bonfires are no longer welcomed at beaches!
A great time had by all. Thanks to all who participated for making this a great event.

Two Words... White Lightning
So I was taking some photos of Freddie's reaction to his bone we got him today while Creed was trying on some of his new clothes for work when I decided to be funny and take a surprise photo of him. He just happened to be trying on his new long johns for work and apparently didn't think I would really take the photo but as the red light from the camera started to blink he panicked and the following picture is the result. It was his cat like reflexes that really made the shot. It as so funny to see his reaction! I am still giggling about it hours later!
