Happy Turkey Day to all

Hi everyone. Happy Turkey day from the desert. Most of the O'Dell clan will be at the Lakes. Laura arrived from San Diego yesterday evening and Steve and Karla will be down today as soon as Karla gets off her rotation. Meg and Scott are winging it to Sacto to the Holmes as I write this. As we are starting to put the turkey and fixings together we are enojoying the rain on the lake out back :(... Hopefully it will clear for a bike ride later this morning.

Schneider broke several records during the game. He set a new Gulf South Conference record for most points scored by kicking in a season with 116. He also broke UNA records for consecutive extra points made in a career with 65 and most extra points made in a season with 65. Schneider is a perfect 65-of-65 on extra point attempts this season.

Go LOions!! By the way does anyone know if the elder Tom Schneider now has an Alabama zip code....BAIF Down South......

Jamo has had the best of times with his Fantasy Football trophy this past year, taking it on all kinds of adventures in the hopes that the trophy would stay with him forever. Alas, the trophy cannot be wooed by exciting adventures, only victory. Space age polymers lost again this week, solidifying his place in the league's basement and will not be in contention this year. Jamo is taking it a little hard, mumbling as he staggers around the house,

"Whoever wins her, please take care of her...."

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- University of North Alabama senior place kicker Tom Schneider of Walnut Creek, Calif., has been named Gulf South Conference Special Teams Player of the Week by the league office. Schneider was a perfect 7-for-7 on his kicks in UNA's 41-9 win Saturday over West Alabama in the Lions' regular season finale.

During the game, Schneider made field goal attempts of 21 and 42 yards and made all five of his extra point attempts. In the process, he set new UNA and Gulf South Conference records for consecutive PATs made in a season with 60. He also broke the UNA record and tied the GSC mark for points scored by kicking in a season (111). Overall Schneider has now made 120 consecutive PATs dating back to 2005 when he was kicking at the University of California and had a PAt blocked by Stanford.

This season at UNA, Schneider is a perfect 60-of-60 on extra points and has made 17 of his 23 field goal attempts. He ranks among the NCAA Division II national leaders in both field goals and scoring. His 111 points leads UNA in scoring.
Schneider was a three-year starter at Cal before transferring to UNA this season.


FLORENCE -- The University of North Alabama football team easily led the way on the 2008 All-Gulf South Conference football teams with 16 overall selections, including nine first-team All-GSC picks.

UNA's nine first-team All-GSC picks include senior running back Mike McLendon of Quitman, Miss., senior receiver Ed Gant of Fort Myers, Fla., senior receiver Rocky Coleman and Clarksdale, Miss., senior guard Sam Hathorn of Corinth, Miss., senior defensive linemen Montrell Craft of Memphis, Tenn., and Derrick Chatman of Florence, Ala., junior linebacker Mike Johnson of Panama City, Fla., senior defensive back David Raymond of Atlanta, Ga., and senior kicker Tom Schneider of Walnut Creek, Calif.

Jaws

I know it may seem odd to be sad about a fish dying but thanks mom for mentioning it. Jaws was one of 3 cichlids I got from a friend in a fraternity my sophomore year in college. That means he has been with me for 10+ yrs. He did eat the other 2 so the name Jaws was very appropriately given to him by friends and roommates. He has moved 8 different times with me (he loved the help from Jenn & Jamo although I think Jamo is still a little traumatized from the last time) and tonight was supposed to be his 9th move up to Creed & my house. He started off at a little under 2 inches in size in a 5 gallon tank and ended at just over 12 inches in a 40 gallon tank (mind you no other fishes in the tank because he always ate them). Whomever said fishes were cheap easy pets is a liar! It did take me about 9 years to finally find out he was a black belt cichlid but hey we already knew he was some sort of ninja from how he would karate chop the filters and thermometer in his tank!
We all knew him as a fish that could be walked in his tank, a grumpy at times (he changed from a light white/gray to a very dark gray) and anyone who walked in the door always was intrigued by this odd fish. May he rest in fishy heaven and have as many other fish to prey on:)

Jaws

Let us all take a moment today for the passing of Jaws. Jessica's faithful companion for the last 10 years left her today for bigger waters. Jaws came in to Jessica's life while in college. Jessica tried to have other fish join them, but Jaws ate them (thus his name). Jaws made many moves(I know Jenn and Jamison are really sad too) with Jessica. Jaws got her through many trying times. Jaws will be missed. Those wishing to donate to his stuffing can contact Jenn.
